The mother of a young Sixmilebridge woman who died from a brain haemorrhage after being misdiagnosed with migraine has expressed the hope that her death was not in vain and may save other peoples lives.
In an interview to be broadcast on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, Christine Butler has spoken out about her struggle to come to terms with the death of her 21 year old daughter Louise and to make sure that some good can come out of her devastating loss.
An inquest into the death of the former Shannon Airport Security Guard returned a verdict of medical accident last month, and recommended that patients with persistent, severe headaches should receive CT scans or lumber punctures while in hospital.
Louise died in November 2006 one month after she was discharged from Limerick Regional Hospital following treatment for migraine, without any such tests being carried out.
