Legendary Clare Hurling Star Ger Loughnane has described false reports which suggested he had died last year as "unforgivable" and says the rumours added further distress to his battle against cancer.
In his first local media interview since his diagnosis with leukaemia last year, the Feakle Native has told Clare FM that he’s pleased to be returning to full health following six months of treatment including chemotherapy.
In July of last year, the 58 year old former Clare Hurling manager had just left hospital following his first round of treatment, when false reports of his death emerged on social networking sites and later in some online media reports.
Loughnane became aware of the rumours after people had sympathised with his son in Australia, and said the controversy caused a lot of upset for his family and became a distraction in his recovery
