The Lough Derg RNLI Lifeboat was launched last night in the rescue of 9 people as their vessell was adrift close to Hare Island having suffered engine failure.

Valentia Coast Coast guard requested the launch of the lifeboat at 6:15, after a member of the public alerted emergency services as they observed the plight of those on board, all passengers mobile phones were out of charge.
The lifeboat was alongside the cruiser by 6:50, the RNLI towed the vessell and all passengers ashore to safety.
