The Lough Derg RNLI is urging the people of Clare to observe the upmost caution when entering the water amid ‘World Drowning Prevention Day’.
The public are being reminded to swim within their depth at life guarded areas, bring a fully charged mobile phone, inform family and friends of your expected return time and to always wear a buoyancy aid.

Last year, lifeguards across the country staged 583 rescues, however 80 individuals still lost their lives in drowning incidents.
