Two people have been rescued from Lough Derg by the local RNLI group.

The pair were aboard a forty foot cruiser which became stranded inside a red navigation mark by Hare Island.

They were located safe and unharmed just before 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, and the vessel was taken off the rocks by volunteers, before continuing its journey.

Volunteers have advised people to ensure that they plan their trips, and that they stay on the correct side of navigation markers.
