Emergency and rescue services are being praised this morning for their efforts in bringing 35 people to safety after their boats got into difficulty in Lough Derg last night.

18 vessels were racing from Dromineer in Co. Tipperary to Killaloe when bad weather hit causing high winds and a massive swell.
35 people were brought to shore while 15 of those needed treatment at the scene for shock and hypothermia.
A further five people who’d gone missing were were found safe and well on Lough Derg’s Crow Island.
