Loss Of Berlin And Stansted Routes Costing Shannon Airport 70,000 Passengers A Year

Shannon Airport is losing out on 70,000 passengers a year after the loss of flights to Berlin and London.

The direct route to Berlin has moved to Kerry Airport, while a number of flights to Stansted have been lost to Knock.

Shannon operating its largest number of transatlantic flights in 17 years now – but Dublin still holds almost 85% of the air traffic market in Ireland, versus Shannon’s 5.1%.

CEO of Shannon Group Matthew Thomas says the balance of routes went in Shannon’s favour this year – but it’s not a level playing field.
