Loophead lighthouse proves popular Autumn destination

Tourist numbers to Loophead Lighthouse have surged in the past week with an extra three thousand people visiting the West Clare site.

Last week Clare County Council annoucned that it was extending the opening hours until October given the popularity of the tourist attraction.

To date 15 thousand people have taken the tour through the 19th centuary building and a decision on whether it will be fully open to the public throughout 2012 will be made next month.

Marketing and Development Officer with Kilrush Town Council Siobhan Garvey believes that there is even more rrom to develop the site
