Uisce Éireann’s capability to deliver a 171km pipeline pumping water from Lough Derg to the Greater Dublin Area has been questioned by local residents.
It comes as communities in Newport, Birdhill and Ballina have hit out at a lack of communication from the utility over what they claim is the third boil water notice effected in their area this year.

Uisce Éireann meanwhile is holding another public consultation event in Killaloe next Wednesday as part of it’s €6bn Parteen Basin project.
Newport resident Yvonne Moloney fears there could be serious issues for the twin towns if the development goes ahead.
