Local road improvement funding draws to close

Funding for Local Improvement Schemes on Clare’s private rural roads has come to an end.

Clare Councillors have criticised the government cutbacks which means that money is no longer provided to rural residents and landowners for the minor roadways that service a number of houses or farms.

Ennis West Councillor Tom McNamara is particularly concerned for over a hundred applicants in Clare who had hoped to be included in the next rounds of funding, only to find out now that it no longer exists
