Local representatives are hitting out at the latest IBAL litter league survey, which shows that Ennis has slipped to "moderately littered".
The county town is now in 32nd place out of 40 towns surveyed, a drop of eight places since August.
The final litter survey of 2015 by Irish Business Against Litter shows the county town has dropped from 24th position in August to 32nd place at the end of the year.
It's now classed as "moderately littered", having previously been ranked as "Clean to European Norms".

And, the report by An Taisce also highlighted the Francis Street Bottle Bank which it says has a novel design to prevent the accumulations of rubbish, that so frequently occur at recycling facilities.
The two most heavily littered sites in Ennis were Knox’s Bridge Amenity Scheme and St. Anne’s School.
But local represetatives have been hitting out at the report – Mayor of Ennis and Fianna Fail Councillor Pat Daly doesn't believe it gives an accurate reflection of the town.
The Leas Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council says she's both confused and angered by the report which she says fails to recognise efforts made to tackle litter problems in Ennis at local and community level.
Councillor Mary Howard thinks those behind the report should take a walk-about with local representatives when carrying out the report.
