62 year-old Tom King, who is a national board member with the Centre for Independent Living, has defied odds after being told by doctors he wouldn't make it past the age of 40.
The Cystic Fibrosis Unit at UHL has been constructed following a long-running fundraising campaign but needs an additional one million euro in funding before it can open.
Tom has told Clare FM he's concerned that a lack of Government funding will prevent that from happening.
