Lobby Group Highlights Safety And Mobility Issues On Live Walking Tour Of Ennis

It’s claimed action is urgently needed on Ennis’ “hostile” public walkways, vacancy and inappropriate traffic calming to get people back living in the town centre.

Better Ennis has raised concerns over a walkway connecting Clon Road and O’Connell Street which cuts through the delivery area of Dunnes Stores and in parts has a footpath that cannot accommodate wheelchair users or buggies.

The group has also pointed to the junction of Francis Street and Causeway Link, which recently had markings to indetify it as an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing removed.

Spokesperson Síle Ginnane says accessibility is directly affecting the town’s vibrancy.
