It’s feared a prominent North Clare harbour will be devastated unless emergency repair works are carried out immediately.
The back wall of Liscannor Bay suffered significant damage last year due to a series of swells penetrating the rock armour, however its condition has deteriorated following Storm Éyown, leaving deep cracks and holes in the walkway, which has now been fenced off from the public.
Clare County Council has carried out a preliminary assessment of the extensive damage caused , while all ships that had been in the bay have been brought ashore.
Local Fisherman Michael O’Connell who’s been operating there for over 40 years says it’s a seriously dangerous situation thats putting livelihoods on hold.
