A Limerick teenager can opt out of religion lessons from today following a U-turn by her school last night.

The girl's father had asked that his daughter be excused from religion at Castletroy College – but the request was rejected.
The school's board of management reversed the controversial decision last night.
However, she must remain in the class under supervision while the subject is taught.
