Limerick Man Charged With Traffic Offences In Ennis And Ballyvaughan

A 53 year old Limerick city man appeared in court today charged in connection with a series of road incidents in Ennis and near Ballyvaughan on Sunday.

At Kilrush District Court, Edward Casey of Park View Court, Lord Edward Street, Limerick appeared in connection with 19 separate road traffic related charges from incidents in Ennis and Bishop’s Quarter, Ballyvaughan.

In the case, Mr Casey is facing five separate dangerous driving charges at Bishop’s Quarter and at Barrack Street, Mill Rd, O’Connell Street and Cusack Rd in Ennis on Sunday.

Mr Casey is also charged with failing to stop for a Garda when required to do so at Bishop’s Quarter and giving a false name to a Garda at Bishop’s Quarter on Sunday.

Solicitor for Mr Casey, Patrick Moylan said that his client was not well as he is a heroin addict and asked that Judge Patrick Durcan request the prison governor at Limerick provide medical assistance to Mr Casey.

Mr Moylan said that there wouldn’t be a bail application at this time and said that there was consent to Mr Casey to be remanded in custody for tomorrow’s court in Ennis.

Judge Durcan remanded Mr Casey to appear at Ennis District Court on Wednesday.
