Two Limerick-based Gardai are being praised for their quick-thinking actions which saved the life of a newborn from Ennis.
Garda Niamh Kennelly and Garda Paul Baynham, who are both attached to Mayorstone Garda Station, responded to an emergency call of a 17-day old baby having turned blue in the back of it’s parents’ car.
The infant was being brought to hospital at the time, when the two Gardai met the family, and Garda Baynham took the child to his patrol car, and placed him on his lap to open his airway.
While the child subsequently turned blue again nearer University Hospital Limerick, medics there were able to assist him and he is now said to be doing well.
