Local campaigners for improved cystic fibrosis facilities have given a guarded welcome to an indication that a new CF unit at University Hospital Limerick will open on a phased basis.

The facility has been largely funded through charitable donations, and now the government is being urged to provide 900,000 euro in operational funds once it's completed this summer.
However, the Department of Health has told Clare FM that it anticipates opening the CF unit on a phased basis when its fully fitted out.
