LIDL has revealed plans for a second Ennis store.
The German Supermarket Giant has lodged planning permission for a store and mixed-use development at the junction of the Clare Road and Toberteascain Road.

LIDL Ireland has today submitted a new planning application for a second store in Ennis.
The development will include a Lidl store, 20 residential apartments, a café and 2 commercial units and promises to transform the existing vacant site into a vibrant retail and residential development.
Under the proposal, the store will incorporate a range of sustainability features including electric vehicle charger spaces and a solar panel system.
If planning permission is granted, the 20 million euro investment from LIDL Ireland will result in the creation of 30 local jobs at the store and up to 100 more through the construction phase.
The German discount supermarket giant had previously been given the green light by Clare County Council for a development at the same site, but the decision was subsequently overturned by An Bord Pleanala.
The planning authority raised concerns at the time over the scale of the development, as well as environmental and flooding concerns.
Commenting on the new application for a second Lidl store, Lidl’s Property Executive and Clare native, Dervla Nash, has said that they’ve worked closely with the local authority, planners and architects to ensure that this development will contribute positively to the local area.
