The level of overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick is more than 60% above that of the next busiest facility in the country today.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation recorded 112 admitted patients on trolleys at the Dooradoyle site during this morning’s rounds, with more than half of those in the Emergency Department.

At Cork University Hospital, which is the next busiest this morning, 69 patients were without a bed, while 8 patients were on trolleys at Ennis General.
It comes on a day when 512 patients are without a bed at hospitals nationwide.
