New figures released by Eircom show a rapid decline in the use of phoneboxes across the country and this is mirrored in Co. Clare.
Of the 4,000 phoneboxes installed nationally, there's only 12-hundred left with only 36 operational payphones in Clare.
The most used phone in Clare in May was at Shannon Airport, followed by a kiosk at Pound Street in Sixmilebridge and O'Connell Street in Ennis.
Eircom Director of Corporate Affairs Paul Bradley says instant communication has largely replaced static communication points.
