A leading homeless charity is meeting an Oireachtas Committee this morning urging the use of vacant housing to end homelessness.

The Peter McVerry Trust says using empty houses to accommodate the homeless is a 'no-brainer'.

The charity claims that for every homeless adult in Irish cities, there are 13 empty houses.

Peter McVerry's Head of Communication Francis Doherty says local authorities need to engage with owners of vacant homes.
