Laws Aim to Boost Public Workers’ Health

A new campaign's being launched to improve the health of public sector workers.

Public employers will be forced to develop so-called 'healthy workplaces' policies under laws being pushed by Health Minister Leo Varadkar.

The law will mean employers will offer healthy eating options in staff canteens, set up walking or exercise groups, promote better mental health and promote walking or cycling to work.

However it'll be up to each employer to decide exactly what measures they take to improve the health of Ireland's 288,000 public workers.
