“Large Defects” On Ennis To Kilrush Road To Be Rectified This Month

A number of “large defects” on a major West Clare road are due to be rectified within the coming weeks.

Clare County Council has been awarded €200,000 in TII funding under the Defects Management System to carry out resurfacing on seven areas of the N68 which links the county town to Kilrush via Lissycasey.

While works are set to begin in the coming weeks, the West Clare Municipal District has conceded that “additional surface defects have formed since the contract was awarded” and it intends to apply for more TII funding to address these.

Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District and Kilrush Independent Councillor Ian Lynch, who raised the issue at this month’s meeting of the region’s local representatives, believes more funding is required to give the route the attention it deserves.
