A Clare climate activist claims international commitments to reduce global warming need to be backed up by action in order to prevent irreversible damage to ecosystems.
Although Ireland experienced its wettest July on record last month with 155mm of rain falling in Clare alone, the worldwide average temperature of 16.5c registered by the World Meteorological Station, was the hottest in the history of the planet.
The month also saw 1,400 people evacuated from Portugal due to wildfires ,while sea ice levels in Antartica reached their lowest levels since records began.
Lisdoonvarna Climate Activist, Thersa O’Donoghue says the events are beginning to be felt closer to home.
