Lahinch Transplant Recipient Named ‘Best Female Athlete’ At European Games

A transplant recipient from North Clare has been named the ‘best female athlete’ at the European Transplant and Dialysis Games.

Lahinch resident Marie O’Connor was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome in the early 90’s and underwent dialysis for three years before having a kidney transplant in 1996 and again in 1998.

She recently took part in the 11th European Transplant & Dialysis Games in Oxford, winning three gold medals and one silver.

 

Marie is praising her organ donor for allowing her to achieve all that she has.
