Lahinch GP Says Rise Of RSV Is ‘Cause For Concern’ For Hospital Services

A North Clare GP says the rise of RSV coupled with the spread of flu and Covid-19 is a ’cause for concern’ for hospital services.

RSV is a common respiratory illness which primarily affects children, however the health authority is reporting an ‘unprecedented’ rise in the number of infections and subsequent hospitalisations.

Last week, 731 new cases were reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre and 290 people were hospitalised with RSV.
