Lahinch GP Highlights Serious GP Issues

A Lahinch-based doctor insists there’s now an urgent need for a new GP contract, to address deepening crisis in general practise.

Dr Michael Kelleher is commenting ahead of the Irish Medical Organisations three-day conference, which gets underway in Galway this afternoon.

The future of Ireland’s newly qualified doctors is also up for discussion over the next few days, while Cyber security for patient records in also on the agenda.


Dr Michael Kelleher, who’s a member of the IMO’s GP Committee says the contract their operating at the moment is 45 years old and no longer fit for purpose.
