A Lahinch general practitioner has defended the cost of accessing GP services in this country.
It comes as a new study by Pfizer Healthcare Limited has found that almost one quarter of adults have put off a trip to their GP due to the strain of daily expenses.
While eligibility for GP visit cards has been extended to all those who earn no more than the median household income of €46,000 per year, many are still forced to pay between 45 and 60 euro for each trip to the doctor.
Lahinch-based GP and IMO GP Committee Member Dr Michael Kelleher insists when you’re paying for a GP visit, you’re paying for years of experience and expertise.
