Lack Of Safe Crossing Points At Ennis Roundabouts Highlighted

Urgent action is being called for amid claims that pedestrians are taking their lives in their hands at roundabouts in Ennis.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Antoinette Baker-Bashua has put forward a proposal at the most recent Ennis Municipal District meeting for pedestrian crossings to be installed at a number roundabouts in the county town.

Ennis MD has confirmed that upgrades involving pedestrian crossings are in the works for the Limerick Road, Cusack Road and Gort Road roundabouts, while it remains its intention to make “incremental improvements for pedestrian safety throughout the town”.

Councillor Baker-Bashua says there are many roundabouts in Ennis where it’s simply not safe for those walking or cycling.
