Labour Convention to Choose Local Election Candidate

Two Clare Labour Party Members will battle it out tonight for one nomination to contest the local elections in the Ennis area.

Moy native Seamus Ryan is the Vice Chairman of the Labour Party and is hoping to be the party’s only candidate in the new Ennis Municipal District, but he’s facing a challenge from fellow party Member and Disability Campaigner Dermot Hayes.

Tonight’s Labour Convention in the Temple Gate Hotel is expected to see current Killaloe Councillor Paschal Fitzgerald selected to contest the elections in the Shannon Municipal District following a change in boundaries, while current Shannon Town Councillor Tony McMahon will also be put on the party ticket for next year’s local elections.
