A Clare Independent TD believes the restoration of the Accident & Emergency Department at Ennis General is vital to ensure the recruitment and retention of nursing staff.
Nurses from Intensive Care & High Dependency Units staged a work to rule at University Hospital Limerick last week to highlight cocnerns over a 22% staffing deficit in the specialist sectors as well as receiving lesser pay than their agency counterparts.
The Government has since pledged to extend services at Ennis, Nenagh & St.John’s to operate on a 24 hour basis following the approval of a private members motion.
However Speaking in the Dáíl, Kilrush based Independent TD , Violet Anne Wynne claims nurses urgently need a second operational model three facility in the MidWest to to ease their burden.
