Kilrush RNLI Describe Ballybunion Double Drowning As ‘Terrible Tragedy’

Kilrush RNLI is describing a double drowning that occurred in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry last evening as ‘a terrible tragedy’.

The West Clare-based lifeboat station, along with the Shannon-based Rescue 115 helicopter, was involved in the rescue search after the alarm was raised last night.

Post mortem examinations will be carried out later on the bodies of the man and woman who passed away.

It’s believed at least one other family member, a teenage boy, was on holidays with them at the time of the tragedy.

Charlie Glynn of the Kilrush RNLI, who was present at the scene in Ballybunion last evening, has been telling Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville that it was a tragic incident for all involved.
