Water rescue services in West Clare are being boosted this afternoon.
Kilrush RNLI will offically launch a new lifeboat -an Atlantic 85 – named Edith Louise Eastwork at a blessing ceremony in the town at 3 o’clock
The new vessel has been named in memory of the mother of the late Baroness Marjorie Von Schlippenbach (Shlippen-Bock) who donated the funding for the boat to the RNLI.
The voluntary 26 member group, have spent recent months training on the new vessel and Pauline Dunleavy, Lifeboat Press Officer with Kilrush RNLI, says the new boat is a welcome boost to the service.
