The town of Kilrush is in mourning after the passing of its parish priest.
Fr Michael Sheedy, a native of Cooraclare, is believed to have passed away suddenly at University Hospital Limerick earlier this week.
Fr Sheedy was first ordained as a priest in 1965, spending time in the Dromore diocese and in Birmingham before his appointment to Nenagh in 1972.
He was appointed back in the West Clare parish in 1989 where he remained until his death.
Funeral arrangements are being prepared and will be announced shortly.
