A Kilrush marine protection event is highlighting the need for government to reach their coastal water protection targets will now go ahead on Friday, August 11th.
Fair Seas, a campaign group that has organised the event, has expressed disappointment at the lack of progress on legislation to protect 30% of waters around Ireland.
The free event has been postponed until Friday August 11th at the Shannon Dolphin Centre in Merchants Quay, Kilrush.
Communications Officer at Fair Seas and former Feakle resident, Jack O’Donovan Trá, says it’s important that the government tackle this issue effectively.
Fair Seas Ireland have issued a statement about the postponement.
“We’re sad to say that due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s Marine Protected Area Talk with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group at Shannon Dolphin Centre, Kilrush, Co Clare has had to be postponed. It will now take place at the same venue on Friday, August 11th from 6pm to 8pm. We hope our audience will be able to attend on the new date and look forward to seeing them there. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
“The event is supported by the Fair Seas Campaign and celebrates the rich waters off the South West coast.
“There will be a panel discussion and Sibeál Regan, Education and Outreach Officer with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group will give a talk about the whales, dolphins and porpoises that call this part of the country home. She will also speak about the Fair Seas campaign to protect, conserve and restore Ireland’s unique marine environment.”
