The Foreign Affairs Department is providing consular assistance to the family of a Kilrush man killed in France.
40 year old Ian Corcoran died while another Irishman was serious injured after a car crash in the French Alps at the weekend.
The single car collision happened at around 2 am last Sunday morning when the car in which Ian Corcoran was travelling in reportedly left the road and hit a tree near Samoëns 10 km from the Swiss Border.
The 40 year old from Kilrush died at the scene- while his passenger – who’s not believed to be from Clare was seriously injured after being thrown from the vehicle.
It’s understood that both men were working locally at the time
The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the incident and is providing consular assistance to both families.
Born in Cork but raised in West Clare Ian Corcoran lived and worked in Kilrush for many years before moving to the US. He ran the Galleon Bar in Cappa and also worked in Ennis.
