Kilrush To Go “Back To Our Roots” For St Patrick’s Day

Locals and visitors to Kilrush will be going “Back To Our Roots” this St Patrick’s day.

Final preparations are underway for the town’s parade which is due to assemble at St Senan’s National School on Sunday, with events getting underway at noon, while the vintage parade will assemble on the Cooraclare Road.

This year’s Grand Marshall is local businessman Joe Whelan, who in the 1990s developed the Museum of Irish Rural Life; a unique museum situated in the heart of the town, celebrating the history and culture of rural Ireland.

Mary McKeown Lynch, who’s a member of the St Patrick’s Day Committee, says the number of entries has increased by a fifth this year and she’s promising something for everyone on the day.
