A six million euro windfarm in Kilmihil has been given the green light by An Bord Pleanála.
Clare County Council refused planning permission for the four turbine wind farm in Cahermurphy earlier this year, amidst concerns over the impact on the protected hen harrier population.
But the decision has now been overturned by the national planning authority, which says that the development wouldn't adversely affect the landscape or seriously injure the visual or residential amenities of the area.
It also said that it would be acceptable in terms of traffic safety and convenience.
The appeals board says it took an inspectors report into account which included a finding that the overall impact on the hen harrier wouldn't be significant during the operational phase.
