A Kilmaley native and former charity worker is accusing Ireland and the West of ‘abandoning’ Afghanistan.
It is now a year since the Taliban regained control of the country, and five months since applications stopped being accepted for Ireland’s special programme to help Afghans.

However, in that time no refugees from Afghanistan have been accepted into Ireland.
Former Director of Trócaire and Kilmaley native Eamonn Meehan says the country’s humanitarian situation is worse now than when war in the country broke out back in 2001.
