Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision at Kilmaley Co. Clare , which occurred on Thursday 19th March, 2026 at approximately 5:00am.
The male driver of the vehicle, aged in his 20’s, was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick by ambulance for treatment of injuries believed to be serious at this time.
The road was temporarily closed, and has since reopened. No additional injuries were reported at the time.
Investigations are ongoing.
The main road between Kilmaley and Inch remains closed this lunchtime following a road crash in the early hours of this morning.
One person remains in a serious condition in hospital following the incident.
Emergency services were alerted around 5 o’clock this morning after a car collided with a crash barrier on the R474 between Inch Bridge and Kilmaley.
Gardaí, National Ambulance Service paramedics and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded that the scene.
Emergency crews had to use ladders to climb down an embankment to reach the vehicle.
One person was subsequently transferred to University Hospital Limerick, where they’re being treated for serious injuries.
The R474 remains closed this lunchtime to facilitate an examination of the scene by Garda forensic collision investigators.
