A Killaloe resident says there’s been no democratic process after plans for a controversial windfarm project in the East Clare mountains have been given the green light.
Despite hundreds of local objections, An Coimisiún Pleanála approved an appeal from French multinational EDF Renewables to build a seven turbine windfarm at Lackareagh Beg.
EDF claims it will power over 35,000 homes, however significant community concerns have been raised over impacts to wildlife, biodiversity and property devaluation.
Konrad Rumberger from the East Clare Windfarm Opposition Alliance believes contrary to claims, there’ll be no local benefits.
