Kilkee Woman To Be Honoured With Oireachtas Human Dignity Award Today

A West Clare woman will become the seventh Irish Citizen to be honoured with the Oireachtas Human Dignity Award this afternoon.

Originally from Kilkee, Sr.Catherine Lillis worked with child victims of drug abuse in Dublin, directed a medical clinic in Myanmar, and set up a rehabilitation hospital in Egypt for soldiers paralysed in conflict with Israel.

After training as an addiction counsellor in the US in the 1970’s, Sr. Lillis founded the Tabor House addiction centre in Navan and remains Director of services at 94 years of age.

Sr.Catherine will be bestowed with the Oireachtas Human Dignity Award by Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl in a ceremony at Leinster House at 2pm.
