Kilkee Bathing Restriction Remains In Place

A bathing water restriction remains in place in Kilkee this weekend, representing a likely blow for the town.

Electrical problems caused pumps at the Kilkee Station to be out of service for a number of hours early in the week, leading to a discharge of wastewater into a stream.

The Pumping Station resumed operations early on Wednesday, and Irish Water had said tests had to be carried out on the water to determine that it was safe for swimmers.

The company indicated this would be conducted over a 48 hour period, but the do not swim notice is still in effect.
