The first Clare golfer to win the South of Ireland Championship in over half a century has hailed the efforts his local club and community have gone to, to create a champion.
Lahinch Golf club’s Johnathan Keane made history on Sunday, claiming a 1up victory on his home course after taking the final hole.

Keane overcame 2018 champion Caolan Rafferty and fended of competition from 149 of Ireland’s leading amateur golfers to scoop the prize.
The Kilfenora native has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus it was a surreal moment.
