Inspectors from the Department of Education have found that the accommodation at a West Clare primary school is no longer fully fit for purpose.
This Department of Education report praises the hardworking teachers at Kildysart National School, as well as its highly-committed principal, the behaviour of pupils and the supports given to children with specific needs.
However, all of this is achieved even though the school building there is deemed "no longer fully fit for purpose."
Originally designed for four-teachers, there are now six mainstream teachers and four staff providing additional supports to its 147 pupils.
The difficulties with the building mean that a number of 'learning settings' are too small, and staff facilities are described as poor.
Inspectors say the board of management are in the "early stages" of planning for a new school building.
In response, the school's Board says it welcomes the findings and says they'll continue to pursue new school accommodation as their main objective.
