Mr Kerry stopped over at the Midwest airport yesterday to hold talks with Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore
A spokeswoman for Mr Gilmore said it was a private rather than a formal bilateral meeting, but a number of important issues had been discussed.
Mr Kerry’s aircraft arrived at Shannon at about 3pm for the scheduled technical stop and was met by Shannon chairwoman Rose Hynes and airport director Mary Considine before talks with Mr Gilmore which lasted an hour.
