Justice Minister Says New Funding Will Enlarge Clare Garda Fleet Amid Ennis Concerns

The Justice Minister says a new tranche of funding to enlarge the Garda fleet will give Clare Gardaí greater resources to deal with violent crime.

It comes amid ongoing concerns about an escalation in crime in Ennis, with a firearm having been discharged and a hit and run incident occurring over the past week.

The Clare Garda fleet is currently one of the lowest in the country, with a number of elected representatives having called for an increase in local resources in recent days.

Justice Minister Heather Humphreys has been telling Clare FM’s Morning Focus, that while she condemns recent incidents in Ennis, she believes the new funding will assist Clare Gardaí.
