The Justice Minister has told the Prison Officers Association conference in Dromoland that she fully accepts recommendations from an advisory group which examined ways of protecting their safety.
The group was setup after two prison officers were stabbed by a prisoner who escaped from custody while at Tallaght Hospital.

The recommendations include a measure that all staff transport high risk prisoners will wear anti-stab vests, and Minister Frances Fitzgerald says they will be implemented in full.
