Just two non-domestic buildings in Clare assessed for energy efficiency this year has been given an ‘A’ rating.
The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show under 3% of such premises here audited since the beginning of 2025 have received the top rating.
A Building Energy Rating, or BER, is a rating that assesses the energy efficiency of a building.
Between the start of January and the end of June, a total of 75 BER audits of non-domestic buildings took place in Clare compared to 107 in the whole of last year.
Of these, 45% received a ‘C’ which was the most common grade in the county, followed by ‘D’ which was bestowed on 23% of such buildings.
While only two properties were given the lowest possible BER in this period, namely ‘G’, the same number received an ‘A’ rating.
The highest number of ‘A’ BERs awarded in Clare in a single twelve-month period came last year when 10 non-domestic buildings here clinched the top grade.
